Art Abroad 2003: Northern Italy
After I graduated from Moore College of Art & Design in 2003 I was invited to study metal and glass sculpture in Northern Italy. I studied in Italy for 2 weeks with a small group of fellow MCAD students as well as a group of Italian students from a glass school in Bolzano, Italy. We created metal sculptures in Steinhaus, Italy, using primitive casting methods, sand and lost wax casting. In Bolzano, we made sculptures using kiln fused and cast glass. The trip ended with a gallery show and opening reception to exhibit both the metal and glass works that we created. Below are some before and after process images of my work from the trip.
